Chai Nabat
Chai Nabat is a fragrant Persian tea that embodies the essence of comfort and hospitality. Ingredients
- Water
- 4 cups
- Black tea leaves
- 2 tablespoons
- Cardamom pods
- 4, lightly crushed
- Saffron threads
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Rock candy (nabat)
- 1 piece per cup, or to taste
Instructions
- In a medium pot, bring the 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the black tea leaves, crushed cardamom pods, and saffron threads to the pot.
- Allow the tea to simmer gently for 10 minutes, letting the flavors meld beautifully.
- After simmering, strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into individual cups to remove the solids.
- Serve each cup with a piece of rock candy (nabat) placed on the side or inside, allowing guests to sweeten their tea to their liking.
Tips
- For an extra layer of flavor, you can toast the cardamom pods in a dry skillet for a minute before adding them to the water.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of saffron and cardamom according to your taste preferences; these spices can be quite potent.
