Elevate your cocktail game with this timeless Champagne Cocktail. This elegant and sophisticated drink is a beautiful blend of the finest champagne, a hint of sugar sweetness, a touch of Angostura bitters for a slightly complex flavor, all garnished with a lemon twist for a citrusy finish. This classic cocktail is perfect to begin a special evening or to celebrate a joyous occasion. It's a taste of luxury that dates back to the early 19th century and still holds its place in the list of 'The Unforgettables' on the International Bartenders Association's cocktail list.

Servings: 1

Ingredients

Lemon
1 twist, for garnish
Angostura bitters
2 dashes
Sugar cube
1
Champagne
4 oz, chilled

Instructions

  1. Start by chilling your champagne flute. A cold glass will keep your cocktail crisp and refreshing.
  2. Place a single sugar cube at the bottom of the champagne flute.
  3. Saturate the sugar cube with two dashes of Angostura bitters.
  4. Slowly pour 4 oz of chilled champagne into the flute, taking care not to overflow. The sugar cube will cause the champagne to fizz up.
  5. Gently stir the cocktail with a long spoon to dissolve the sugar cube, this will help to evenly distribute the sweetness and bitters.
  6. Finish off by garnishing with a twist of lemon. To do this, peel a thin strip of lemon peel, twist it over the glass to release its oils, and drop it in.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the bubbly goodness of your Classic Champagne Cocktail!
