Potatoes
2 cups, boiled and peeled
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Salt
1 teaspoon
Water
1/2 cup
Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons
Tomatoes
2 cups, finely chopped
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Onion
1 medium, finely chopped
Chili flakes
1 teaspoon
Salt
to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth.
  2. Add the flour and salt to the mashed potatoes and mix well until it forms a dough.
  3. Gradually add water, kneading the dough until it becomes soft and easy to shape.
  4. Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into round dumplings.
  5. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
  6. Gently drop the dumplings into the boiling water and let them cook for about 10 minutes until they float to the surface.
  7. Drain the cooked dumplings and set them aside.
  8. In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  9. Fry the dumplings until they turn golden brown on all sides.
  10. In the meantime, prepare the spicy tomato sauce. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic in a bit of oil until they soften.
  11. Add the chopped tomatoes, chili flakes, and salt to the skillet. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes until it forms a thick sauce.
  12. Serve the golden brown chapaleles hot, smothered in the spicy tomato sauce.
