Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Green onions
- 2, chopped for garnish
- Rice
- 2 cups
- Ginger
- 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce
- 1/4 cup
- Honey
- 1/4 cup
- Char siew sauce
- 1/2 cup
- Pork shoulder
- 1.5 pounds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the char siew sauce, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined. This will be your marinade.
- Place the pork shoulder in a deep baking dish. Pour the marinade over the pork, ensuring it's thoroughly coated. For a more intense flavor, massage the marinade into the meat using your hands.
- Tightly cover the dish with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. For best results, marinate overnight to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the meat.
- Once marinated, remove the foil and transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven. Roast the pork for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until it's beautifully caramelized and cooked through.
- While the pork is roasting, prepare your steamed rice according to the package instructions.
- After roasting, let the pork rest for about 10 minutes before slicing into thin strips. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat, making it even more tender and juicy.
- To serve, spoon a generous amount of steamed rice onto a plate, top with the sliced Char Siew pork, and garnish with the chopped green onions. Enjoy the irresistible combination of flavors that is Char Siew Rice!
