Golden Cheesy Hashbrowns

Indulge in these heavenly Golden Cheesy Hashbrowns, the ultimate comfort food that everyone loves. Imagine biting into a crispy, golden brown crust that gives way to a creamy, cheesy center, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt and pepper. This dish is a classic staple of American cuisine, often served for breakfast or as a side dish to accompany a hearty main course. It's incredibly easy to prepare, but so satisfying that it will leave your family and friends asking for more.

Serves 8

Ingredients

Green onions
2, finely chopped
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon, freshly ground
Salt
1 teaspoon
Cheddar cheese
2 cups, shredded
Butter
1/2 cup, melted
Frozen hashbrowns
1 (30 oz) bag

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the frozen hashbrowns, melted butter, half of the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the hashbrowns are fully coated with the butter and cheese mixture.
  3. Spread the hashbrown mixture evenly into a 9x13 inch baking dish, ensuring that it is packed tightly for optimal crispiness.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the hashbrowns are crispy and golden brown on top.
  5. Remove the baking dish from the oven and immediately scatter the remaining cheddar cheese and finely chopped green onions over the top of the hashbrowns.
  6. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly and slightly golden.
  7. Allow the cheesy hashbrowns to cool for a few minutes before serving hot. Enjoy this comforting dish as is or with a dollop of sour cream or ketchup.

Tips

  • 💡 For a variation, try adding cooked bacon bits or diced ham for an extra savory kick. If you prefer a spicier version, add a finely chopped jalapeno or a dash of cayenne pepper to the hashbrown mixture before baking.
