
Chicago Style Pizza
This deep-dish pizza is a classic Chicago favorite, with a thick buttery crust, chunky tomato sauce, and lots of cheese.
Ingredients
- Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup, grated)
- Mozzarella cheese (2 cups, shredded)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Dried basil (1 teaspoon)
- Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
- Canned crushed tomatoes (1 can (28 ounces))
- Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- Green bell pepper (1, thinly sliced)
- Onion (1, thinly sliced)
- Italian sausage (1 pound, crumbled)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
- Pizza dough (1 pound)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Press the pizza dough into a deep-dish pizza pan, covering the bottom and sides.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the Italian sausage, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until the sausage is browned and the vegetables are softened.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the tomato mixture over the pizza dough.
- Top with the cooked sausage, onion, and bell pepper mixture.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
