Indulge in this rich and creamy Chicken Alfredo Linguine, a classic Italian-American dish that combines tender chicken strips with a velvety Alfredo sauce, served over perfectly cooked linguine. This comforting meal is perfect for a cozy dinner at home, effortlessly bringing a taste of Italy to your table. The origins of Alfredo sauce date back to the early 1900s when Alfredo Di Lelio created it in Rome, originally as a simple butter and cheese sauce for his pregnant wife. Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the linguine according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and return to the pot.
- While the pasta cooks, season the sliced chicken with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chicken strips in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat with the Alfredo sauce. Let it heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the creamy sauce.
- Serve immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color.
Tips
- For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in lemon juice and garlic for 30 minutes before cooking.
- You can easily make this dish your own by adding vegetables such as steamed broccoli or sautéed mushrooms.
- For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with low-fat milk or chicken broth.
