
Chicken Fried Chicken
A classic southern dish, chicken fried chicken is a comfort food favorite. Tender chicken is breaded and fried until golden and served with a creamy gravy.
Ingredients
- Milk (1 cup)
- Butter (2 tablespoons)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Panko breadcrumbs (1 cup)
- Eggs (2, beaten)
- All (purpose flour - 1 cup)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (4)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Dredge the chicken in the flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and coat in the breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 10 minutes per side.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the remaining flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer.
- Cook until the gravy is thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Season the gravy with salt and pepper.
- Serve the chicken with the gravy.
