
Chicken Souvlaki
Chicken souvlaki is a delicious Greek dish made with marinated chicken skewers, served with pita bread and tzatziki sauce.
Ingredients
- Cucumber (1, sliced)
- Red onion (1, thinly sliced)
- Tomatoes (2, sliced)
- Tzatziki sauce (1 cup)
- Pita bread (4)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Lemon juice (2 tablespoons)
- Olive oil (1/4 cup)
- Chicken breasts (4, boneless and skinless)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
- Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in the marinade. Toss to coat the chicken evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers.
- Grill the chicken skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and slightly charred.
- While the chicken is grilling, warm the pita bread on the grill for a few seconds on each side.
- To serve, spread tzatziki sauce on the warmed pita bread. Top with grilled chicken skewers, sliced tomatoes, red onion, and cucumber.
- Fold the pita bread in half and enjoy your delicious chicken souvlaki!
