Chocolate Chip and Caramel Skillet Cookie

This indulgent dessert is a giant chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet, with gooey caramel in the center.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
  • Sea salt flakes (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Caramel candies (1 cup, chopped)
  • Chocolate chips (1 1/2 cups)
  • Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Baking soda (1 teaspoon)
  • All (purpose flour - 3 cups)
  • Vanilla extract (2 teaspoons)
  • Eggs (2)
  • Brown sugar (1 cup)
  • Granulated sugar (1 cup)
  • Unsalted butter (1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped caramel candies.
  6. Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet and press the cookie dough evenly into the skillet.
  7. Sprinkle sea salt flakes over the top of the dough.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
