Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Bananas
- 2, peeled and cut in half crosswise
- Dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa)
- 1 cup, chopped or chips
- Coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon
- Popsicle sticks
- 4
- Toppings (optional)
- to taste (e.g., chopped nuts, coconut flakes, sprinkles, sea salt)
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and cut them in half crosswise.
- Insert a popsicle stick into each banana half, creating a handle for easy dipping.
- Place the banana halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until solid.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and coconut oil. Melt in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted.
- Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer. Dip each banana half into the melted chocolate, using a spoon to coat it evenly. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
- If desired, roll the chocolate-covered bananas in your choice of toppings such as chopped nuts, coconut flakes, or sprinkles for added texture and flavor.
- Place the coated bananas back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and return them to the freezer for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate is fully set.
- Once the chocolate is set, your delicious Chocolate Covered Bananas are ready to be enjoyed! Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer for later.
