Churros Rellenos

Indulge in these delightful churros filled with a rich and creamy chocolate ganache that melts in your mouth. Originating from Spain, churros have become a beloved treat in many cultures, often enjoyed with a cup of hot chocolate for dipping. These churros are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making for a perfect dessert or snack that will transport you straight to a bustling Spanish market!

Ingredients

Water
1 cup
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
Granulated sugar
2 tablespoons
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Eggs
2 large
Vegetable oil
for frying
Dark chocolate
6 ounces, chopped
Heavy cream
1/2 cup
Cinnamon sugar
1/2 cup (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a smooth ball of dough.
  3. Allow the dough to cool slightly before adding the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated and the dough is smooth and glossy.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  5. In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C) for frying.
  6. Pipe 4-inch long churros directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors. Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, remove the churros and drain them on paper towels.
  8. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate and heavy cream. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted. Allow to cool slightly to thicken.
  9. Using a small piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off, carefully fill each churro with the chocolate ganache.
  10. Roll the filled churros in cinnamon sugar for added sweetness and flavor.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful combination of crispy churros and luscious chocolate filling!
