Authentic Clam Ramen

Indulge in a bowl of authentic clam ramen, a satisfying fusion of succulent fresh clams, hearty ramen noodles, and a deeply flavorful broth. This Japanese classic, rooted in the seaside regions where clams are abundant, will transport you to the vibrant streets of Tokyo with every slurp. Savory, fragrant, and complete with a symphony of toppings, it's a delicious adventure for your taste buds.

Ingredients

Nori seaweed
2 sheets, shredded
Soft-boiled eggs
2
Green onions
2, thinly sliced
Sesame oil
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Ginger
1 inch piece, grated
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Chicken or vegetable broth
4 cups
Ramen noodles
2 packets
Fresh clams
1 pound

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them and set aside.
  2. Simultaneously, in a separate large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until they release their fragrant aroma.
  4. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring it to a simmer.
  5. Carefully add the fresh clams into the simmering broth. Cook them until they open up, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Any clams that do not open should be discarded as they may not be safe to eat.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the open clams from the broth and set them aside. Strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve to remove any impurities for a clear and clean flavor.
  7. Return the strained broth to the pot and stir in the soy sauce. Bring the broth back to a simmer.
  8. Divide the cooked ramen noodles into serving bowls. Pour the hot, flavorful broth over the noodles.
  9. Top each bowl with the cooked clams, a generous sprinkle of sliced green onions, shredded nori seaweed, and a perfectly soft-boiled egg.
  10. Serve your clam ramen piping hot and enjoy its authentic Japanese flavors. Itadakimasu!
