Enhanced Classic Stuffing
This enhanced version of the traditional stuffing recipe is a comforting blend of savory flavors and textures that brings warmth to your holiday table. Made with soft bread cubes, aromatic herbs, and a medley of sautéed vegetables, this stuffing is perfect for Thanksgiving turkey, but equally delightful alongside roasted chicken or pork. As a dish that has evolved through generations, stuffing has roots dating back to ancient Roman times, where it was often used to fill meats. Make this recipe your own with additional mix-ins like dried cranberries or walnuts for a unique twist!

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the diced onions, celery, and minced garlic, cooking until the vegetables are soft and fragrant, about 10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, beaten eggs, poultry seasoning, salt, and black pepper. If using, add the dried cranberries or walnuts for extra flavor and texture. Mix gently until the bread is evenly moistened.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Tips
- For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or cooked sausage to the vegetable mixture.
- You can use a mix of bread types (like sourdough, whole grain, or brioche) for a more complex flavor.
- Make-ahead tip: Prepare the stuffing a day in advance, cover it tightly, and refrigerate. Bake it just before serving.
