Coffee and Soy Sauce Marinade
A fascinating fusion of the rich, deep flavors of freshly brewed coffee and the umami essence of soy sauce, this marinade is a hidden gem for any food enthusiast. The marriage of these robust ingredients creates a flavorful and aromatic blend that adds a remarkable depth of flavor to beef, chicken, or pork. This traditional Asian-inspired marinade, with a unique Western twist, has been passed down through generations. It's a testament to the delightful combination of contrasting flavors that surprise and satisfy the palate.
Ingredients
- Ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon
- Garlic
- 4 cloves, minced
- Brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce
- 1/2 cup
- Strong brewed coffee
- 1/2 cup
Instructions
- Combine the freshly brewed coffee, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper in a bowl. Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Place your preferred choice of meat (beef, chicken, or pork) in a large dish or a zip-top bag.
- Pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring all parts are fully submerged in the marinade. If necessary, turn the meat to help distribute the marinade evenly.
- Let the meat marinate in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours. For optimal flavor absorption, marinate overnight.
- After marinating, remove the meat and discard the leftover marinade. Cook the meat as per your preferred cooking method - grill, roast, or pan-sear.
Tips
- For a spicier kick, add 1-2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper flakes to the marinade.
- This marinade can also be used for tofu or vegetables for a vegan option.
- To avoid foodborne illnesses, never reuse marinade that has been in contact with raw meat.
