Servings: 8

Ingredients

Orange peel
peel of 1 orange
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Cloves
4 whole
Cinnamon sticks
2
Sugar
1/2 cup
Instant coffee
2 tablespoons
Milk
4 cups
Aguardiente
1 cup

Instructions

  1. Combine aguardiente, milk, instant coffee, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, vanilla extract, and orange peel in a large saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture starts to simmer.
  3. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture infuse for about 10 minutes. This will allow the spices and orange peel to release their flavors into the liquid.
  4. After 10 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the spices and orange peel, ensuring a smooth and flavorful drink.
  5. Allow the Cola de Mono to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to a bottle or pitcher and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
  6. To serve, pour the chilled Cola de Mono into glasses. If desired, garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon for an extra festive touch. Enjoy this traditional Chilean Christmas treat!
