Homemade Colombiana Soda
Experience the authentic taste of Colombia with this homemade version of the beloved Colombiana soda. This effervescent, citrusy vanilla drink is a national treasure and often accompanies traditional Colombian meals. It's vibrant, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors will transport you straight to the lively streets of Bogotá.

Ingredients
- Carbonated water
- 4 cups
- Organic food coloring (optional)
- a few drops, orange or red
- Pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon
- Pure lemon extract
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Pure orange extract
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Water
- 1 cup
- Granulated sugar
- 1 cup
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the sugar syrup to cool down to room temperature.
- Once cooled, stir in the orange extract, lemon extract, and vanilla extract. If you'd like to mimic the traditional color of Colombiana soda, add a few drops of organic food coloring. Stir until well combined.
- When ready to serve, pour 1/4 cup of the homemade syrup into a tall glass. Top it up with 1 cup of chilled carbonated water. Stir gently to combine the syrup and carbonated water until well mixed.
- Repeat the process for the remaining servings. Enjoy your homemade Colombiana soda over ice for a truly refreshing experience.
