Confiture de Lait (Dulce de Leche)
Confiture de lait, known as dulce de leche in many parts of the world, is a luscious and creamy caramel spread that has captured the hearts of dessert lovers everywhere. Originating from Latin America, this delightful treat is made by slowly simmering sweetened condensed milk until it transforms into a rich, golden caramel that is perfect for spreading on toast, drizzling over pancakes, or as a decadent topping for ice cream and cakes. Its velvety texture and sweet, buttery flavor make it a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Ingredients
- Sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (14 ounces)
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over low heat, ensuring to stir continuously for the first 10 minutes to prevent the milk from scorching.
- After the initial 10 minutes, continue cooking over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 2-3 hours. The mixture will gradually thicken and change to a rich caramel color.
- Once the desired consistency and color are reached, remove the saucepan from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, mixing well until incorporated.
- Allow the confiture de lait to cool completely in the saucepan before transferring it to a jar or airtight container.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
