Servings: 4

Ingredients

Ground beef
1 pound
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Sliced ham
4 slices
Swiss cheese
4 slices
Hamburger buns
4
Lettuce leaves
4
Tomato slices
4
Mayonnaise
1/4 cup
Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and pepper. Mix gently, being careful not to overwork the meat, and form into 4 equal patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  3. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (an internal temperature of 160°F for medium).
  4. During the last 2 minutes of grilling, top each patty with a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese. Cover the grill to ensure the cheese melts thoroughly.
  5. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl until well combined.
  6. Spread the Dijon mustard sauce on the bottom halves of the hamburger buns.
  7. Layer each bun bottom with a fresh lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato, then place the cooked burger patties on top.
  8. Complete the burgers by adding the bun tops. Serve immediately, and enjoy your gourmet creation!
