Original recipe serves 1

Absinthe
1 dash
Lemon juice
1 ounce, freshly squeezed
Cointreau
1 ounce
Gin
1 ounce
Ice cubes
as needed
Lemon twist
for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chill your coupe glass in the freezer for about 15 minutes prior to making the cocktail.
  2. Pour a dash of absinthe into the chilled glass, swirl it around to coat the glass, and then discard the excess.
  3. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, Cointreau, and gin.
  4. Shake the mixture vigorously for about 10-15 seconds. This not only mixes the ingredients but also chills them and adds a slight dilution which is essential for a balanced cocktail.
  5. Strain the cocktail into your absinthe-coated coupe glass.
  6. Garnish with a lemon twist to add an extra burst of citrus aroma with each sip.
