Servings: 4

Ingredients

Vegetable oil
for frying
Wonton wrappers
1 package (about 48 wrappers)
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Green onions
2, finely chopped
Cream cheese
8 ounces, softened
Crab meat
8 ounces, cooked and shredded
Sweet and sour sauce
for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  2. Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the crab mixture in the center of the wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with a little water using your finger or a brush. Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal, ensuring there are no air pockets.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of wonton wrapper; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
  5. Carefully place the crab rangoons in the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the crab rangoons from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Serve hot, accompanied by sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
