Ingredients

Original recipe serves 8

Orange zest
1 tablespoon
Ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon
Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon
Granulated sugar
1 cup
Orange juice
1/2 cup, freshly squeezed
Fresh cranberries
4 cups

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine fresh cranberries, freshly squeezed orange juice, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and orange zest.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture occasionally until it comes to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes. During this time, the cranberries will burst and the sauce will begin to thicken.
  4. After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the cranberry compote cool before serving.
  5. You can now serve the cranberry compote. It makes a perfect topping for desserts, pancakes, or roasted meats.

Tips

  • 💡 For a variation, try adding a splash of vanilla extract or swapping the orange juice for apple cider.
