Perfect as a main dish or a side, it invites you to savor the moment, making any dinner feel like a special occasion. Pair with a crisp salad or grilled vegetables for a complete meal.
Ingredients
- Butter
- 2 tablespoons
- Garlic
- 4 cloves, minced
- Arborio rice
- 1 cup
- White wine
- 1/2 cup
- Chicken broth
- 4 cups, heated
- Heavy cream
- 1/2 cup
- Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup, grated
- Salt
- to taste
- Black pepper
- to taste
- Fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.
- Stir in the arborio rice, cooking for about 2 minutes until the grains are coated in the butter and turn slightly translucent.
- Pour in the white wine and stir continuously until it is mostly absorbed by the rice.
- Begin adding the heated chicken broth, 1/2 cup at a time. Stir constantly and wait for each addition to be absorbed before adding the next. This process should take about 18-20 minutes.
- Once the rice is tender and creamy, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and grated parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
Tips
- For added flavor, consider sautéing some chopped onions with the garlic.
- You can replace chicken broth with vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
- Experiment by adding cooked mushrooms, peas, or spinach for extra texture and flavor.
