Crispy Roasted Cabbage Steaks

Transport your taste buds to a world of culinary delight with these Crispy Roasted Cabbage Steaks. These roasted cabbage slices are not only a feast for the eyes with their charred, crispy edges and juicy centers, but they also offer a symphony of flavors ranging from slightly sweet to smoky and savory. This dish is a beautiful way to showcase the humble cabbage, transforming it into a star side dish that pairs excellently with any main course.

Serves 4

Ingredients

Red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon, freshly ground
Salt
1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Green cabbage
1 medium-sized head, cut into 1-inch thick slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the cabbage slices from sticking.
  2. Arrange the cabbage slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Evenly drizzle the olive oil over the cabbage slices. Sprinkle the cabbage with salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes to season.
  4. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the edges of the cabbage slices are caramelized and crispy, and the centers are tender and juicy.
  5. Using a spatula, carefully transfer the cabbage steaks to a serving platter. Serve hot, with additional salt and pepper to taste if desired.

Tips

  • 💡 For an added flavor dimension, try adding a sprinkle of your favorite herbs or spices before roasting.
  • 💡 These roasted cabbage steaks make a wonderful base for a topped salad. Add a drizzle of dressing and a sprinkle of protein, like chickpeas or grilled chicken, for a complete meal.
