Croque Au Thon

Layers of rich, flaky canned tuna are mixed with creamy mayonnaise and tangy Dijon mustard. - Milk
- 1 cup
- All-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons
- Unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons
- Gruyere cheese
- 4 slices
- Bread slices
- 4
- Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons
- Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons
- Canned tuna
- 1 can, drained
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the drained canned tuna, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Mix until well incorporated.
- Spread the tuna mixture evenly over two bread slices.
- Place a slice of Gruyere cheese on each of the tuna-topped slices.
- Cover each with another slice of bread to form sandwiches.
- For the béchamel sauce, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly until it forms a smooth paste.
- Slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Continue to cook the sauce until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Season the béchamel sauce with a pinch of nutmeg, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Preheat a pan or griddle over medium heat. Grill the sandwiches on both sides until they are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Serve the Croque au Thon hot, lavishly topped with the warm béchamel sauce. Enjoy!
