Ingredients

Salt

Black pepper
to taste
Eggs
2 large
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons
Gruyère cheese
4 slices
Ham slices
4 slices
Bread slices
4 slices

Instructions

  1. Spread a layer of Dijon mustard evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  2. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Gruyère cheese on the mustard side of two bread slices.
  3. Top with the other two slices of bread, mustard side down, to form sandwiches.
  4. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts to foam.
  5. Carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has started to melt, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. While the sandwiches are cooking, fry the eggs in a separate skillet to your desired level of doneness.
  7. Place a fried egg on top of each cooked sandwich.
  8. Season the egg with salt and pepper to taste.
