Crostini Con Lardo

Crostini con Lardo is a delightful and luxurious Italian appetizer that showcases the rich flavors of lardo, a deliciously cured pork fat. Traditionally enjoyed in Tuscany, this dish beautifully combines the crunch of toasted baguette with the melt-in-your-mouth texture of lardo, seasoned with aromatic herbs. Each bite is a celebration of Italian culinary heritage, making it a perfect starter for gatherings or a simple indulgent snack.

Baguette
1, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces

8 ounces, thinly sliced
Olive oil
2 tablespoons, plus more for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  3. Toast the baguette slices in the oven until they are golden brown and crispy, about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through for even toasting.
  4. Once toasted, rub one side of each baguette slice with the peeled clove of garlic to infuse them with flavor.
  5. Layer the thin slices of lardo on the toasted side of each baguette slice.
  6. Sprinkle with fresh rosemary, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper.
  7. Drizzle a little extra olive oil over the top for added richness.
  8. Serve the Crostini con Lardo immediately while the bread is still warm and the lardo slightly melts.
