Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Burger buns
- 4, preferably cuban bread or soft sandwich rolls
- Ground beef
- 1 pound, preferably 80/20 for juiciness
- Dill pickles
- 8 slices
- Swiss cheese
- 4 slices
- Ham
- 4 slices, thinly sliced
- Mustard
- 4 tablespoons, yellow or dijon for a tangy kick
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon, to taste
- Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon, to taste
- Onion powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat, then form into 4 equal patties.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham. Cover the grill or skillet with a lid to melt the cheese.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the buns. Spread 1 tablespoon of mustard on the bottom half of each bun.
- Once the patties are cooked and the cheese is melted, place each patty on top of the mustard-covered bun, add two slices of dill pickles, and cap with the top half of the bun.
- Serve the burgers hot with your choice of sides.
