Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Hot dogs
4
Hot dog buns
4
Ham
4 slices
Swiss cheese
4 slices
Dill pickles
1/2 cup, sliced
Yellow mustard
to taste
Butter
2 tablespoons (for toasting buns)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Grill the hot dogs until they are heated through and have nice grill marks, about 5 minutes.
  3. While the hot dogs are grilling, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the hot dog buns and toast them until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  4. Once the hot dogs are done, place a slice of ham on each toasted hot dog bun.
  5. Top each ham slice with a grilled hot dog.
  6. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each hot dog, allowing it to melt slightly from the heat.
  7. Add sliced dill pickles over the cheese and drizzle with yellow mustard to taste.
  8. Serve the Cuban Dogs immediately, with extra pickles and mustard on the side if desired.
