Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Cuban bread or French baguette
- 4 rolls
- Unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons, softened
- Yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons
- Dill pickles
- 1/2 cup, sliced
- Swiss cheese
- 8 slices
- Sliced ham
- 8 ounces
- Roasted pork shoulder
- 8 ounces, sliced
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your panini press or a large skillet over medium heat.
- Slice each roll in half horizontally. Spread a generous layer of yellow mustard on the bottom half of each roll.
- Layer the roasted pork, followed by the sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles atop the mustard-covered rolls.
- Close the sandwiches with the top halves of the rolls, pressing down gently to compact the filling.
- Spread the softened butter evenly on the outside of each sandwich, ensuring a golden, crispy finish.
- If using a skillet, place the sandwiches in the skillet and use another heavy skillet or a panini press to press down on them. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese has melted.
- Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from heat and let them rest for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Slice the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve warm, ideally with a side of plantain chips or a refreshing mojito.
