Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Wonton wrappers
1 package (about 50 pieces)
Ground pork
1/2 pound
Shrimp
1/2 pound, peeled and deveined
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, minced
Green onions
2, finely chopped
Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Soy dipping sauce
for serving

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the shrimp, ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, garlic, and ginger. Pulse until the mixture is well combined and slightly chunky, ensuring the shrimp retains some texture.
  2. Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it over the filling to form a triangle, and pinch the edges tightly to seal. For a decorative touch, pleat the edges if desired.
  4. Repeat the process for the remaining wrappers and filling.
  5. Prepare your steamer by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it. Place the dumplings in the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other.
  6. Steam the dumplings over boiling water for about 15 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.
  7. Serve hot with soy dipping sauce on the side for a flavorful complement.

Tips

  • 💡 Feel free to experiment with the filling by adding finely chopped vegetables like mushrooms or bok choy for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • 💡 If you don’t have a steamer, you can use a heatproof plate placed in a pot of boiling water, ensuring it is elevated above the water level.
