Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Lamb or Beef
- 2 pounds, thinly sliced
- Pita bread
- 4 pieces
- Garlic
- 4 cloves, minced
- Olive oil
- 1/4 cup
- Red wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh mint
- 1/4 cup, chopped
- Fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup, chopped
- Cucumber
- 1, diced
- Tomato
- 1, diced
- Onion
- 1, thinly sliced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the red wine vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
- Add the thinly sliced meat to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight to enhance the flavors.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If you have a vertical rotisserie, prepare it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Alternatively, you can use a grill or a regular oven.
- Thread the marinated meat onto the rotisserie skewer (or place on a baking tray for grilling) and cook for about 2 hours, or until the meat is cooked through and has a crispy exterior.
- While the meat is cooking, prepare the fresh vegetable mixture. In a large bowl, combine the diced cucumber, diced tomato, sliced onion, chopped parsley, chopped mint, salt, and pepper. Toss gently to mix and set aside.
- Once the meat is done, carefully remove it from the rotisserie and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice it thinly using a sharp knife.
- To assemble the Doner Kebab, take a piece of warm pita bread, layer it with sliced meat, and add a generous portion of the vegetable mixture. Roll up the pita tightly, securing the filling inside.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Doner Kebab with a side of yogurt sauce or spicy chili sauce for an extra kick.
