Italian sausage
1 pound, casings removed
Butter
4 tablespoons
Onion
1 medium, diced
Celery
2 stalks, diced
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Endive
4 cups, chopped
Fresh parsley
1/4 cup, chopped
Fresh sage
1 tablespoon, chopped
Salt
1 teaspoon
Pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Chicken broth
2 cups
Bread cubes
4 cups, preferably stale or toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the diced onion, celery, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped endive to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 3 minutes.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, bread cubes, chicken broth, parsley, sage, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
