Ethiopian Fruit Salad with Tej

This refreshing fruit salad is a popular Ethiopian dessert. It is served with Tej, a traditional Ethiopian honey wine.

Ingredients

  • Mint leaves (a handful, chopped)
  • Tej (ethiopian honey wine) (1 cup)
  • Honey (2 tablespoons)
  • Lemon juice (2 tablespoons)
  • Mixed fruit (4 cups, chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chopped fruit, lemon juice, and honey.
  2. Toss the fruit until it is well coated with the lemon juice and honey.
  3. Chill the fruit salad in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  4. Just before serving, pour the Tej over the fruit salad and gently toss to combine.
  5. Garnish the fruit salad with the chopped mint leaves.
  6. Serve the fruit salad chilled, with extra Tej on the side if desired.
