Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Pizza dough
1 (12-inch) round
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Figs
6, ripe, thinly sliced
Red onion
1/2, thinly sliced
Feta cheese
1 cup, crumbled
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Balsamic glaze
2 tablespoons
Fresh basil
1/4 cup, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness, typically about 1/2 inch thick for a crisp crust.
  3. If using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the rolled dough onto a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet. If not, place the dough onto a greased or parchment lined baking sheet.
  4. Brush olive oil evenly over the pizza dough, leaving about a 1/2 inch border around the edges for the crust.
  5. Arrange the thinly sliced figs and red onion over the oiled dough.
  6. Sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese evenly over the figs and onion.
  7. Season the pizza with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. If using a pizza stone, carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone in the oven. Otherwise, place the baking sheet in the oven.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle the balsamic glaze evenly over the pizza.
  11. Sprinkle the chopped fresh basil over the top of the pizza just before slicing and serving.

Tips

  • 💡 Consider adding a handful of arugula or some prosciutto for a twist. For a vegan version, replace the feta with a vegan cheese of your choice.
