Ingredients
- Fresh figs
- 12, ripe and whole
- Goat cheese
- 4 oz, softened
- Prosciutto slices
- 6 slices, halved lengthwise
- Honey
- 2 tablespoons
- Balsamic glaze
- 2 tablespoons
- Fresh basil leaves
- 12 leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Carefully cut a small slit in the top of each fig, about halfway down, creating a pocket for the cheese.
- Using a small spoon or your fingers, stuff each fig with a generous amount of softened goat cheese.
- Wrap each stuffed fig with a slice of prosciutto, ensuring the cheese is well-covered. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
- Place the wrapped figs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced apart for even cooking.
- In a small bowl, combine the honey and balsamic glaze. Drizzle this mixture evenly over the wrapped figs, allowing the flavors to meld during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the prosciutto is crispy and the figs are softened.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before garnishing each fig with a fresh basil leaf.
- Serve warm and enjoy as a delightful appetizer or snack.
Tips
- For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding crushed black pepper or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes when drizzling the honey and balsamic glaze.
- You can substitute goat cheese with cream cheese or blue cheese for a different flavor profile.
- If fresh figs are not available, try this recipe with dried figs; just soak them in warm water for about 30 minutes beforehand.
