Servings: 6

Ingredients

Fresh figs
12, ripe and firm
Egg
1, beaten
All-purpose flour
1/2 cup
Walnuts
1 cup, finely chopped
Orange marmalade
1/2 cup
Salt
1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  3. Using a sharp knife, cut a small cross at the top of each fig, about halfway down, to allow for better absorption of flavors and easier baking.
  4. In a shallow bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, all-purpose flour, and salt until well combined.
  5. Dip each fig into the beaten egg, ensuring it's completely coated, then roll it in the walnut-flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere the coating onto the figs.
  6. Arrange the coated figs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each fig to allow for even baking.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the walnut crust turns golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  8. While the figs are baking, gently heat the orange marmalade in a small saucepan over low heat until warmed through and slightly thinned, making it easier to drizzle.
  9. Once the figs are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  10. Drizzle the warm orange marmalade generously over the figs just before serving for an elegant finish and additional flavor.
