Ingredients
- Fresh figs
- 12, ripe and firm
- Egg
- 1, beaten
- All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup
- Walnuts
- 1 cup, finely chopped
- Orange marmalade
- 1/2 cup
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Using a sharp knife, cut a small cross at the top of each fig, about halfway down, to allow for better absorption of flavors and easier baking.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, all-purpose flour, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each fig into the beaten egg, ensuring it's completely coated, then roll it in the walnut-flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere the coating onto the figs.
- Arrange the coated figs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each fig to allow for even baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the walnut crust turns golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- While the figs are baking, gently heat the orange marmalade in a small saucepan over low heat until warmed through and slightly thinned, making it easier to drizzle.
- Once the figs are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
- Drizzle the warm orange marmalade generously over the figs just before serving for an elegant finish and additional flavor.
