Original recipe serves 4

Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon
Lemon juice
1 tablespoon
Honey
1/2 cup
Fresh figs
1 pound, stemmed and quartered

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine quartered figs, honey, fresh lemon juice, and cinnamon.
  2. Set the saucepan over medium heat. As the mixture heats, stir gently to combine the ingredients and coat the figs evenly in the honey mixture.
  3. Continue to cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes. During this time, the figs will soften, and the mixture will thicken to a compote consistency.
  4. Once the compote has thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the compote to cool slightly in the pan.
  5. Your Honey-Infused Fig Compote is ready to serve. It can be enjoyed warm or chilled, depending on your preference.
