Filet Mignon with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli

Experience a touch of fine dining at home with this luscious Filet Mignon, served alongside heartwarming garlic mashed potatoes and a side of nutritiously vibrant steamed broccoli. This dish, often enjoyed at luxurious steakhouses, captures the essence of sophistication and comfort food, all in one plate.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Broccoli (1 large head, cut into florets)
  • Milk (1/2 cup)
  • Potatoes (4 large, peeled and quartered)
  • Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
  • Unsalted butter (2 tablespoons)
  • Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Filet mignon (4 (6-ounce) steaks)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the filet mignon on all sides with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add the filet mignon to the skillet and sear until it develops a brown crust, about 2 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer the skillet directly to the preheated oven and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the steak reaches your preferred level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130-135°F.
  6. While the steak is cooking, begin preparing the mashed potatoes. Place the quartered potatoes in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil.
  7. Cook the potatoes until they are easily pierced with a fork, about 15 minutes, then drain.
  8. Return the drained potatoes to the pot. Add the minced garlic, milk, and an additional tablespoon of butter. Mash until creamy and smooth, seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary.
  9. For the broccoli, steam in a steamer basket over a pot of boiling water until bright green and tender, about 5 minutes.
  10. To serve, plate a filet mignon steak with a generous scoop of garlic mashed potatoes and a portion of steamed broccoli. Enjoy this decadent yet balanced meal!
