This delicacy, rich in flavors, is a delicious blend of fresh fish fillets cooked in a hearty gravy prepared with a myriad of spices. It's a comforting dish that brings a touch of Indian tradition to your dining table, perfect for a family dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Fresh coriander leaves
handful, chopped
Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons
Salt
1 teaspoon, or to taste
Garam masala
1 teaspoon
Cumin powder
1 teaspoon
Coriander powder
1 teaspoon
Red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon
Ginger
1 inch piece, finely chopped
Tomatoes
2 medium, finely chopped
Onions
2 medium, finely chopped
Fish fillets
500 grams, boneless

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
  2. Add finely chopped ginger and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Stir well until the spices are well incorporated with the onion-tomato mixture.
  5. Add the fish fillets, gently mixing them with the spice mixture to ensure they are evenly coated.
  6. Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through. Make sure to check the fish occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the pan.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala over the fish and mix gently. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  8. Serve this aromatic and flavorful fish gravy hot with steamed rice or warm roti for a satisfying meal.

Tips

  • 💡 For a variation, you can add coconut milk to make the gravy richer and creamier. Also, feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste. Using fresh fish will enhance the flavor of the dish.
