Ingredients

Fish fillets
1 pound (450g), skinless and boneless
Yogurt
1 cup, plain
Lemon juice
2 tablespoons, fresh
Garlic paste
1 tablespoon
Ginger paste
1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder
1 teaspoon
Red chili powder
1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Garam masala powder
1 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Vegetable oil
for grilling

Instructions

  1. Clean the fish fillets under cold water and gently pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, garlic paste, ginger paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly to create a smooth marinade.
  3. Add the fish fillets to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor infusion.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the fish from the marinade, shaking off any excess. Grill the fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque, cooked through, and has a nice charred appearance.
  6. Serve the Fish Tikka hot, garnished with freshly chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice for added brightness. Pair it with a side of basmati rice or naan.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra smoky flavor, consider using a charcoal grill.
  • 💡 You can substitute fish with chicken or paneer for a different variation.
  • 💡 Serve with a cooling side of cucumber raita to balance the spice.
