Ingredients

Original recipe serves 1

Espresso
1 shot (about 1 ounce)
Whole milk
4 ounces
Optional sweetener (sugar, honey, or flavored syrup)
to taste

Instructions

  1. Begin by brewing a shot of espresso using your espresso machine. Use freshly ground coffee for the best flavor.
  2. While the espresso is brewing, pour the whole milk into a frothing pitcher.
  3. Steam the milk using a milk frother or steam wand until it reaches a velvety texture, ensuring you create microfoam. Aim for a temperature of about 150°F (65°C) for optimal sweetness without scalding the milk.
  4. Once the milk is steamed, pour the espresso shot into a pre-warmed cup.
  5. Hold back the foam with a spoon and pour the steamed milk over the espresso, allowing the microfoam to float on top.
  6. Gently stir the milk and espresso together to combine flavors, but be careful not to disturb the microfoam too much.
  7. If desired, add your choice of sweetener to taste, and serve immediately for the best experience.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra touch, consider adding a sprinkle of cocoa powder or cinnamon on top of the microfoam before serving.
  • 💡 Experiment with different milk alternatives, like oat or almond milk, for unique flavors and textures.
