Buttermilk
1/2 cup
Salt
1 teaspoon
Baking powder
1 teaspoon
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Rye flour

  2. Gradually add the buttermilk and water to the dry ingredients. Mix gently until a dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a smooth ball.
  5. Using a rolling pin, roll out each ball into a thin circle, approximately 6 inches in diameter.
  6. Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat until hot.
  7. Cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
  8. While still warm, brush each flatbread with melted butter for a rich flavor.
