Original recipe serves 20

Sugar
1 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Water
1/2 cup
White vinegar
1 cup
Garlic
3 cloves, peeled and crushed
Fresno chilies
1 pound, stemmed and roughly chopped

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped Fresno chilies, crushed garlic, white vinegar, water, salt, and sugar.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes until the chilies are soft and fully infused with the vinegar and spices.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly for safe blending.
  5. Transfer the cooled mixture to a blender and puree until it reaches a smooth consistency.
  6. Strain the pureed mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar or bottle, discarding the solids.
  7. Allow the sauce to cool completely before sealing the jar or bottle.
  8. Store your Fresno Chili Hot Sauce in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a month when properly stored.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra flavor twist, try adding a small onion or a handful of cherry tomatoes to the mixture before boiling. Or, for an extra smoky touch, try replacing half of the Fresno chilies with smoked chipotle peppers.
