Frutti Di Mare Pizza

Dive into the flavors of the sea with this exquisite Frutti di Mare Pizza, a delightful culinary experience that brings together a medley of fresh seafood atop a crisp, golden crust. Originating from the coastal regions of Italy, this pizza showcases the bounty of the ocean, making it a favorite among seafood lovers. The fragrant garlic, aromatic herbs, and rich tomato sauce meld beautifully with the succulent shrimp, tender scallops, and briny clams and mussels, creating a dish that is as visually stunning as it is delicious.

1 cup
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Clams
1 cup, cleaned

1 cup, sliced
Shrimp
1 cup, peeled and deveined
Fresh parsley
1/4 cup, chopped
Fresh basil
1/4 cup, chopped
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness, making sure to create a slightly thicker edge for the crust.
  3. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone, ensuring it is well-positioned.
  4. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Add the cleaned shrimp, scallops, mussels, and clams to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through and the mussels and clams have opened. Discard any that do not open.
  7. Season the seafood mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Evenly distribute the cooked seafood over the pizza dough, ensuring an even coverage.
  9. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are heated through.
  10. Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley and basil for a burst of color and flavor.
  11. Slice and serve hot, garnished with additional herbs if desired.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes before baking for a bit of heat.
  • 💡 You can customize this pizza by including other seafood options like squid or octopus, or by adding a drizzle of lemon juice right before serving for freshness.
  • 💡 For a gluten-free option, substitute the pizza dough with a gluten-free crust.
