Instructions
- In a bowl, thoroughly combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, finely chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the beef short ribs in a large ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Ensure all ribs are well-coated. Seal the bag and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. For best results, marinate overnight.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Take out the short ribs from the bag, shaking off excess marinade. Discard the remaining marinade, as it should not be reused.
- Brush the grill grates with vegetable oil to prevent the ribs from sticking.
- Grill the short ribs for about 3-4 minutes per side, until they are nicely charred and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Once done, remove the short ribs from the grill and allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful bite.
- Serve the galbi hot with steamed rice and kimchi for a traditional Korean BBQ meal.
Tips
- For a more authentic Korean experience, try using Korean soy sauce, which has a richer and sweeter flavor than regular soy sauce.
- Don't skip the marinating process as it tenderizes the meat and infuses it with flavor.
- For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of Korean chili paste (gochujang) to the marinade.
