Galbi Jjim is a Korean braised beef short rib dish that is tender, flavorful, and perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients
- Sesame seeds (1 tablespoon)
- Green onions (4, chopped)
- Onion (1, sliced)
- Potatoes (2, peeled and cubed)
- Carrots (2, sliced)
- Water (1 cup)
- Rice wine (1/4 cup)
- Sesame oil (1 tablespoon)
- Ginger (1 tablespoon, grated)
- Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
- Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
- Soy sauce (1/2 cup)
- Beef short ribs (2 pounds)
Instructions
- Soak the beef short ribs in cold water for 1 hour to remove any blood.
- In a large pot, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and rice wine.
- Add the beef short ribs to the pot and pour in enough water to cover the ribs.
- Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, skimming off any impurities that rise to the surface.
- Add the carrots, potatoes, onion, and green onions to the pot.
- Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the meat is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
- Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
