Galbi Jjim

Galbi Jjim is a Korean braised beef short rib dish that is tender, flavorful, and perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • Sesame seeds (1 tablespoon)
  • Green onions (4, chopped)
  • Onion (1, sliced)
  • Potatoes (2, peeled and cubed)
  • Carrots (2, sliced)
  • Water (1 cup)
  • Rice wine (1/4 cup)
  • Sesame oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Ginger (1 tablespoon, grated)
  • Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
  • Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Soy sauce (1/2 cup)
  • Beef short ribs (2 pounds)

Instructions

  1. Soak the beef short ribs in cold water for 1 hour to remove any blood.
  2. In a large pot, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and rice wine.
  3. Add the beef short ribs to the pot and pour in enough water to cover the ribs.
  4. Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, skimming off any impurities that rise to the surface.
  5. Add the carrots, potatoes, onion, and green onions to the pot.
  6. Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the meat is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice.
