Indulge in the rich and savory flavors of Gamberi al Marsala, a traditional Italian dish that beautifully marries succulent shrimp with the sweet, complex notes of Marsala wine. Originating from the sunny coasts of Sicily, this dish is perfect for any occasion, whether it's a romantic dinner or a festive gathering. Each bite offers a delightful burst of flavor, enhanced by aromatic garlic and fresh parsley, making it a true culinary gem of Italian cuisine.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Shrimp
1 pound, peeled and deveined
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Marsala wine
1 cup
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Carefully add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning them with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  4. Pour the Marsala wine into the same skillet, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom. Bring the wine to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, or until it has reduced by half.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the unsalted butter until melted and the sauce is smooth and glossy.
  6. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are heated through.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
