Classic Gammon Steak with Caramelized Pineapple

Ingredients
- Gammon steaks
- 2 (about 200g each)
- Salt
- to taste
- Black pepper
- to taste
- Oil
- for frying (vegetable or sunflower oil)
- Potatoes
- 4 medium, peeled and cut into thick chips
- Butter
- 2 tablespoons
- Pineapple rings
- 4 rings (fresh or canned)
- Frozen peas
- 1 cup
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium heat.
- Season the gammon steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Place the gammon steaks under the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until thoroughly cooked and slightly charred.
- In a frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the pineapple rings and cook until caramelized and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- While the pineapple is cooking, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the frozen peas and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- For the chips, heat the oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 180°C (350°F). Fry the potato chips in batches until golden and crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
- Serve the grilled gammon steaks topped with the caramelized pineapple rings, alongside the crispy chips and tender peas.
