2 (about 200g each)
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Oil
for frying (vegetable or sunflower oil)
Potatoes
4 medium, peeled and cut into thick chips
Butter
2 tablespoons
Pineapple rings
4 rings (fresh or canned)
Frozen peas
1 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat.
  2. Season the gammon steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Place the gammon steaks under the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until thoroughly cooked and slightly charred.
  4. In a frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the pineapple rings and cook until caramelized and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. While the pineapple is cooking, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the frozen peas and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  6. For the chips, heat the oil in a deep fryer or large, deep saucepan to 180°C (350°F). Fry the potato chips in batches until golden and crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
  7. Serve the grilled gammon steaks topped with the caramelized pineapple rings, alongside the crispy chips and tender peas.
