Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Black pepper, freshly ground
1 teaspoon, or to taste
Salt
1 teaspoon, or to your preference
Extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons
Garlic cloves, minced
4
Fresh green beans, ends trimmed
1 pound

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water and add a generous pinch of salt. Bring the water to a robust boil.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add the trimmed green beans. Let them cook for about 3-4 minutes until they become vibrant in color and are crisp-tender. Be careful not to overcook them as they will continue cooking later in the pan.
  3. While the green beans are boiling, heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic into the skillet. Let it cook for about 1-2 minutes until it releases its fragrance. Be careful not to burn the garlic as it can turn bitter.
  5. Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer the green beans from the pot to the skillet, draining the water well.
  6. Season the beans with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the beans are well coated with the garlic oil and heated thoroughly.
  7. Serve these aromatic and flavorful Garlic Infused Green Beans hot as a side dish. They pair beautifully with grilled meats or a flavorful fish dish.

Tips

  • 💡 For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the black pepper.
  • 💡 If you want a tangy twist, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice just before serving can uplift the overall flavor.
  • 💡 To add more texture, sprinkle some toasted almond slices on top before serving.
